“i paint colors of life. painting is a result of introspection as well
as observation of life, it is the result of a constant search in forms and
topics. i seek to create a space for people to relate, find reflections of
themselves in the artwork, open up space, open minds and support communication
among each other through art. coming from a biracial background, i experience
the importance of nurturing both cultures as part of self discovery. finding
ones identity is the strongest foundation of life. my work depicts that journey,
the impact and lack of it on one hand, and on the other hand, i aim to give
strength to those who feel they need to relate, constantly explain, choose,
are categorized or asked what they are based on their looks. i seek to represent
their beauty and diversity”. mascha oehlmann
